Role Reversal

Introduction “Role Reversal”
Parents that immigrate to the United States have their children well-being in mind. When they arrived to this country they face many challenges, one of which is to learn a new language (English). Unfortunately because of many circumstances the majority of these parents don’t get to learn the language and as an alternative they use their children as translators. However, these parents don’t realize that using a child as translators can cause stress in the child’s life and change their behavior toward the parents.

"It Wasn't a Big Deal"

My husband and I decided to go to a restaurant and had a beautiful dinner because it was our anniversary. While we were in the restaurant we were having a wonderful time, but all of that was about to change. We ordered some wine and we wait for our food.  After a few minutes the waiter brought us our dishes, we were starving at that point. All of a sudden my husband began to shout at the waiter, so I asked him if something was wrong and he didn’t answer me. When the waiter came to him he started to tell the waiter that how he was going supposed to eat in a broke plate. The waiter didn’t said nothing and began to laugh at him instead, then he walked away.  I was so upset with my husband that I decided to go back home. In short, the nights that it was going to be remarkable for us because our anniversary, ended up in being an unforgettable embarrassing scene for me.
